Process traumatic experiences and achieve emotional healing.
Struggling to overcome negative beliefs or past traumas? Stuck in a cycle of anxiety, panic, or self-doubt? EMDR may be the solution.
EMDR is highly effective for shifting negative beliefs, moving past trauma, and treating a wide variety of issues, such as anxiety, panic, phobias, or PTSD. Dozens of controlled trials and research studies have demonstrated that effectiveness.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a powerful and evidence-based approach to psychotherapy that has been proven effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and various other concerns. EMDR therapy works by helping you process distressing memories and experiences in a way that reduces their emotional impact and promotes healing.
One of the (many) reasons I'm such a fan of EMDR is that it works quickly, with some clients seeing significant results after just a session or two of reprocessing.
EMDR is Proven Highly Effective for Treating a Wide Variety of Issues.
We know that your brain stores normal and traumatic memories differently. When a normal memory is stored, it is part of an expansive neural network, connecting memories with each other. However, with an upsetting, distressing, or even truamatic experience, your brain stores that memory differently. Because of this, your brain doesn't get the message that the danger is over and it's safe to heal.
This keeps the traumatic experience "alive" in your brain, leading to anxiety, panic, insomnia, stress, and a variety of other issues.
EMDR works to heal those past memories, which then liberates you from the symptoms you are experiencing. EMDR works by "rewiring" the part of your brain that triggers anxiety, panic or PTSD. Once that memory is healed, it no longer triggers the same reaction.
During an EMDR session, I will guide you through a series of bilateral stimulation techniques, such as eye movements or hand taps while you focus on specific memories, thoughts, or sensations. These bilateral stimulations help activate your brain's natural healing processes, allowing you to process and integrate the traumatic or distressing experiences more effectively.
EMDR typically requires about fifteen sessions, although that can vary based on the individual. My experience has been that it is equally effective in-person or online.
EMDR helps individuals process traumatic memories and experiences by facilitating the brain's natural healing mechanisms. This can lead to a reduction in the emotional distress and physiological arousal associated with trauma.
EMDR has been shown to effectively alleviate symptoms of PTSD, including intrusive thoughts, nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance, and avoidance behaviors.
MDR often produces results more quickly than traditional talk therapy. Many individuals report significant improvements in their symptoms after just a few sessions.
As clients process and resolve traumatic experiences, they may experience increased self-confidence, self-esteem, and a greater sense of empowerment and control over their lives.
EMDR equips individuals with coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques that can be used to manage stress, anxiety, and triggers outside of therapy sessions.
Research suggests that the benefits of EMDR treatment are often maintained over time, with many individuals experiencing continued improvement even after completing therapy.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a type of therapy that helps individuals process traumatic memories and experiences.
EMDR therapy involves bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help the brain process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional impact.
EMDR therapy has been shown to be effective in treating trauma-related disorders, such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
The length of EMDR therapy varies depending on the individual and the severity of their symptoms, but it typically ranges from 6 - 12 sessions.
Each 50-minute session is $250. Some clients prefer longer 80-minute sessions; these are $375. Longer sessions work best for processing more distressing memories.
I am an in-network provider with United Healthcare, Oscar, and Optum. I am an out-of-network provider with all other insurance providers. If you want to see whether you'd be eligible for reimbursement for your anxiety treatment, contact your insurance company. (You can also use this calculator to get an estimate.)
I work with clients in person in my office in Delray Beach and online. I've found EMDR to be just as effective online as it is in person.
Before accepting any client for EMDR treatment, I first do a 15-minute consultation. This allows both of us to make sure we're the right fit to work together. Click here to schedule your complimentary consultation.
